A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man was fatally stabbed in Coventry city centre this morning (Thursday).
West Midlands Police were called to Upper Well Street just before 2.40am and found a man in his 20s with serious injuries.
Despite being treated by emergency services the man was pronounced dead shortly after.
A second man was found with hand wounds and has been taken to hospital for treatment.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and has been taken into custody for questioning.
Road diversions and a police cordon are in place while enquiries are carried out. The police have thanked everyone for their understanding and patience.
Supt Ronan Tyrer said: “This is the tragic death of a young man and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this devastating time.
“We currently have a man in custody but we’re still in the very early stages of our investigation to establish exactly what happened and why.
“We understand our enquiries will lead to disruption in the city centre and we’re grateful for your support and understanding.”
