Man charged over incident in Coventry in which a police car was repeatedly rammed

A MAN will appear in court today after being charged over an incident in Coventry on New Year’s Day in which a police car was repeatedly rammed by a Transit van.

Paul Neelan, aged 29, from Cedars Avenue, Coventry, faces two charges of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on police officers.

He was also charged with two counts of dangerous driving – as it is alleged he also deliberately crashed into another police car – and driving whilst disqualified.

West Midlands Police said it was fortunate the officers were not seriously hurt.

It happened in Hummingbird Avenue around 1.30am after police responded to reports of disorder at a house there.
