Coventry Editorial 24th Aug, 2023   0

A MAN has died after he was found with stab wounds at Gosford Green Park in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 20).

Marvin Warmington was discovered in the Coventry Park just before 3.10am.

The 47-year-old was taken to hospital in a serious condition and he passed away on Tuesday evening.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested from a Coventry address on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

A 35-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has now been released and will face no further action.

A 47-year-old man who was arrested on Monday has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Marvin’s family have paid tribute to him, describing him as having an infectious energy and said he was treasured by all who knew him.

“He was an incredibly loved father, son, brother and uncle and we have all been left with a piece of us taken along with him.”

Det Insp Hannah Whitehouse from the Homicide team said: “Our thoughts remain with Marvin’s family and we have specialist officers who continue to support them at this difficult time.

“We are still in the early stages of our investigation and would appeal for anyone with information who has not yet come forward, to get in touch with us.

“At this stage, we believe this was an isolated incident without cause for wider alarm in the community. Reassurance patrols in the area will continue to offer reassurance.”

Anyone with information should contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat on their website, or by calling 101, and quote log 517 of August 20.
