A MAN has died after his lorry smashed into a barrier and burst into flames on the M6 northbound near Coventry.

Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses or information following the incident in the early hours on Saturday (August 3).

It happened at around 12.20am, when a lorry travelling between junctions two and three collided with a safety barrier close to a ‘works exit’, causing the fire.

A Warwickshire Police spokesperson said: “The driver of the lorry, a man in his 60s, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, saw the manner in which the lorry was being driven prior to the collision or has any dashcam footage of the incident, is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 20 of 3 August 2019.

“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.”
