A MAN has died after a road traffic collision on the A45 Stonebridge Highway in Coventry this morning (December 13).
The man is believed to have been the driver of a car that made off from police before crashing into another vehicle at around 10.20am.
At around 10.27am, police called West Midlands Ambulance Service to report a serious road traffic collision.
A MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene along with three ambulances, two paramedics, a BASICS emergency doctor, and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
One of the Trust’s non-emergency Patient Transport Service ambulances came across the incident and stopped to give aid on the scene.
Ambulance staff found the fire and police services giving CPR to the driver of one car, who was in critical condition.
They provided advanced life support to the man but he was confirmed dead at the scene shortly after.
A man driving a second vehicle involved in the collision sustained some injuries, though a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said they were ‘not thought to be serious.’
He was treated on scene and was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further checks.
The A45 and A46 in Coventry have been closed while emergency services and collision reconstruction experts establish the circumstances of the collision.
