Man jailed for wielding two knives outside Coventry nightclub

A COVENTRY man who waved two knives around outside a city nightclub has been jailed for 12 months.

Mohammed Kashin was sentenced after he admitted wielding the blades in City Arcade on August 12.

Kashin was seen on CCTV leaving a club where he’d argued with another man, before leaving the area and returning a short time later with two knives.

He then lunged and charged at people with the weapons, and he was seen swinging the knives at a number of people, narrowly missing a couple of them.

He was eventually stopped by security and members of the public, some of whom used a metal street barrier to force him back.

Kashin hid the blades in the roller shutter of a nearby shop and attempted to flee, but was stopped and arrested by officers for possession of a knife.

The 38-year-old, of Bristol Road, Coventry, was jailed for affray and possession of a knife.

Coventry LPA Commander Peter Henrick said: “Carrying a knife is totally unacceptable, let alone waving it around in a crowded area where innocent members of the public can be seriously hurt or killed.

“We will continue to work with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for victims and keep people safe in the streets of Coventry.”
