Man left with 'life changing injuries' after Binley attack

Coventry Editorial 2nd Jun, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital following a violent assault near a pub in Binley.

The 25-year-old is currently in a coma after being found by a passer-by with a serious head injury in a garden in Deerdale Way at around 8.30pm on Sunday, May 24.

Describing the victim’s condition as ‘critical but stable’, officers are now appealing for information on his attackers.

Detective Sergeant Louise Hanlon said police believe he may have had a disagreement with a group of men outside the Standard Bearer pub before being chased into Deerdale Way and assaulted.

She added: “From the injuries the man has sustained, this appears to have been a violent assault which has left him with potentially life changing injuries.

“We have carried out house-to-house inquiries and we are still establishing if there is any CCTV in the area which may help us with our investigation, but we could really do with hearing from people about what happened.

“Whoever is responsible for this attack needs to be arrested and brought to justice, and I would urge anyone who was at the pub the Sunday before last and witnessed the dispute outside to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
