Man sentenced for pushing fisherman in Coventry pond

A MAN  has been handed a 12-week suspended sentence for pushing a fisherman into a pond in Coventry.

Unemployed Brendan Cleary was convicted at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Monday (October 12) for the attack which happened in Swanswell Park on September 19.

The 45-year-old, of Gloucester Street in Spon End, pleaded guilty to assault and criminal damage. He was also ordered to pay £150 in compensation.

A video recording of the attack was later uploaded to YouTube and was seen tens of thousands of times online.
