POLICE are appealing for information after a man in his 30s was stabbed in the back with a kitchen knife in Coventry this morning (October 8).

West Midlands Police said: “We were called to Lyndale Road at 1.30am, to reports a man had been stabbed after two men are believed to have forced entry to his home.

“A man in his 30s was threatened before being punched in his face and body and stabbed in the back with a kitchen knife.

“The pair fled the scene before police arrived and we are urgently trying to trace them.

“The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

“We believe one of the men was wearing a black Nike tracksuit, an Armani baseball cap and black and red trainers. The second man was wearing a blue hooded coat.”

DC Richard Walker from Coventry force CID, said: “We are urgently appealing for anyone with information on this nasty assault to contact us.

“Investigations are in the early stages, we are looking at CCTV and awaiting forensic results.

“We believe the victim is a vulnerable man that was deliberately targeted in this unnecessary and violent attack.”
