Meat and alcohol stolen from farm shop during break in

A FARM shop has been forced to close after a break-in during the dead of night.

Oakes Farm Shop, in Balsall Common, had food and alcohol stolen when thieves forced their way in last night (April 5).

Owners have appealed to the public to inform them of Oakes’ produce being sold on.

They said: “Unfortunately we will be closed today due to being broke into after 10.30pm last night.

“Significant damage to the building and loss of a lot of stock means for the safety of our staff and customers we are unable to open.

“If anyone saw anything last night could you let us know.

We will try to be back open tomorrow (April 7) – thank you for all your support over the last few weeks, it’s very much appreciated.”

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating a burglary at Oakes Farm Shop in Balsall Street, Solihull sometime between 8pm last night (Sunday 5 April) and 6am this morning (Monday 6 April), where a quantity of meat and alcohol was taken.

“Enquiries continue and anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, quoting crime reference 20SH/83911R/20.”
