MICHELIN star chef Glynn Purnell will be opening his new cafe and bistro at Charterhouse.
The cafe follows the opening of the Grade I listed, 14th-century Carthusian monastery to visitors on April 1 after over ten years of work by Historic Coventry Trust.
Purnell’s Cafe and Bistro at Charterhouse will operate during the day but remain open into the evening after the main venue is closed.
The cafe and bistro will feature food and drink made from locally sourced ingredients along with a cake counter.
Glynn started cooking professionally aged 14 and owns two restaurants in Birmingham.
Purnell’s Restaurant, which opened in July 2007, was awarded a Michelin star in 2009 and has retained it every year since.
His other Birmingham restaurant Plates by Purnell’s, opened in February this year and was listed in the Michelin Guide within two months.
He presented the latest series of My Kitchen Rules UK alongside Rachel Allen on Channel 4 and is a regular on Saturday Kitchen as a host and guest chef.
