A COVENTRY dementia care home welcomed an old four-legged friend as miniature American pony Boo came to spend an afternoon with residents.
Boo and handler Yvette have been visiting MHA Charnwood House for a few years, but this was the duo’s first trip back for a while.
The home’s activity coordinator Victoria Brown found Yvette on social media and discovered she lived close by.
Boo proved a great companion for Yvette’s mum, who also has Alzheimer’s and the pair were invited in to lift the spirits of residents at the home.
The much-loved pony put a smile on the faces of residents, some of whom are not very talkative.
Boo even tucks the residents into bed if their blankets have fallen off.
Victoria said the visit was a lovely day and seeing a smile on residents’ faces when Boo arrived or went up to them was heart-warming.
The home provides residential dementia care for 65 residents.
