A BIOMEDICAL scientist is hoping to make the most of her appearance in Miss Coventry and Warwickshire to showcase what females in science are made of.
24-year-old Emily Bunce has lived in Coventry since studying biomedical science at Coventry University as a teenager.
Originally from Northamptonshire, Emily will be hosting two fundraising events to raise cash for her chosen charity, Beauty With A Purpose.
The charity, founded in 1972, supports children on an international scale and can help benefit the most vulnerable people in society.
As Emily will be raising funds in Coventry, all of the money she raises will be distributed around the city – and the former Miss England semi-finalist has planned to raise over £1,000.
Emily’s first charity event will be held at the Wheatsheaf Inn on the Foleshill Road – hosting a charity pub quiz.
The quiz starts tomorrow (February 12) at 7.30pm, entrance is £2 per person or £5 for a team of three.
She added: “It will be a classic pub quiz to help local charities.
“Last year I raised almost £1,000 so naturally I’ll be hoping to top that.
“I’ve received some overwhelming support and lot’s of people have supported me so far.”
Emily – who made the semi final stage at last year’s Miss England competition – has been promoting healthy body images for girls and women and has spoke at music festivals to promote females in science.
The fundraiser will also be hosting a clothes swap at the Coventry and Warwickshire Sports club on Saturday (February 27) on Binley Road.
Emily said: “The clothes swap is always fun, we encourage people to bring their unwanted clothes along – one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure.
“Miss England was a fantastic experience and I’m excited to have been fast tracked to the finals of Miss Coventry and Warwickshire because of it.”
