More shots from M6 crash scene

Coventry Editorial 11th Apr, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THESE images show the scale of the damage caused by a dangerous crash which forced the closure of the M6 earlier this week which caused traffic chaos in the area.

A lorry driver was left seriously injured after two heavy goods vehicles and two cars collided on the motorway between junction 2 and 3 shortly before 8am on Tuesday.

A 25-year-old man was trapped inside his lorry for several hours before being rescued by emergency crews and rushed to University Hospital with a broken leg, broken wrist and a suspected fractured pelvis. Another female driver was also trapped with minor injuries.

The motorway was closed in both directions for several hours which caused traffic chaos during two peak rush-hour periods.

Although the northbound carriageway re-opened when the emergency crews left the scene in the afternoon, the southbound carriageway remained closed until 3am on Wednesday.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or saw any of the vehicles involved, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the collision occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Linda Bunyard-Spiers at Warwickshire Police on 01926 415415.
