More than 100 plants seized from Coventry cannabis farm

A CANNABIS farm in Coventry has been shut down by police.

West Midlands Police’s Hillfields neighbourhood team carried out a warrant in Highfield Road on Monday (January 27) after receiving reports of suspicious behaviour.

The officers carried out the raid alongside staff from Western Power, finding more than 100 cannabis plants inside.

The plants were spread across several rooms throughout the house, with growing equipment set up including lamps and heating pipes.

A police spokesperson said: “All of this was powered by bypassing the electricity. This is extremely dangerous, as the vast amounts of electricity required to power cannabis farms can cause catastrophic fires threatening the surrounding area.”

No arrests were made, with officers keen to hear from anyone who might know who was responsible for the operation.

Anyone who has seen anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact police using the Live Chat facility at www.westmidlands.police.uk, or by calling 101, quoting log 2821 of January 27.
