COVENTRY’S Sports Fest recorded the highest attendance ever, with over 15,000 residents taking part in sport.

The free, six-day event is now on its 11th instalment and took place in Broadgate from July 25-30 for families of all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Sports Fest 2023, which was delivered by Coventry City Council in partnership with CV Life, featured sports and activities including esports, dancing and rugby for all abilities and saw clubs including Positive Youth Foundation, England Squash and Sky Blues in the Community deliver activities to the public.

The event also saw some great health, wellbeing and sports stall holders throughout the week, including Wellbeing for Life, Langar Aid and School Nursing.

Coventry’s discount scheme, Go CV, also celebrated a milestone of signing up 100,000 members during the event with a celebration on the Saturday.

Councillor Kamran Caan, cabinet member for public health and sport, said: “Sports Fest was once again a huge success. Sports Fest is in its 11th year and the event continues to thrive.

“As we do every year, we provided a free and diverse range of activities and sports for all abilities and ages which is really important during the current cost of living crisis.

“Sports Fest really does bring together our communities. It allows everyone to enjoy sport and activities for free, find a new hobby and get active this summer.

“This year’s event was even more special as we held a Go CV takeover day within the week to celebrate reaching 100,000 members. It’s a fantastic milestone and I’m proud to have such an innovative scheme in place that supports the people of Coventry.”
