A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a crash with a car in Coventry last night (June 13).

Emergency services were called to Hall Green Road at the junction with Almond Tree Avenue in Wood End at 6.30pm where a motorbike had collided with a silver Ford Mondeo.

A passing nurse tended to the motorcyclist, a man in his 50s from Coventry, and tried to resuscitate him but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers arrested the car driver, a 28-year-old man living in Radford, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody for questioning.

West Midlands Police Collision Investigation Unit is looking into the circumstances of the crash and has urged witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Alan Wood said: “We understand that the collision took place at the junction between the two roads…the biker suffered very serious injuries and there was nothing that could be done to save him.

“I would ask anyone who saw the collision or saw the bike or silver Mondeo in the moments leading up to the impact to please get in touch as they could hold vital information.”

A WMAS spokesman said: “Crews discovered the motorcyclist, a man, in cardiac arrest following the collision.

“Ambulance staff performed CPR and administered advanced life support but unfortunately it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was treated for the effects of shock and discharged at the scene.”

Witnesses are urged to call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or email: [email protected]
