Motorists quiz highways bosses over M42 junction 6 works

RESIDENTS have quizzed highway bosses about the upgrade of the M42 at junction 6.

National Highways hosted a series of events for residents, commuters and business owners to find out more about the works being done.

Questions were raised to the project team around a wide variety of topics including environmental work, traffic management and construction plans.

Work has begun on the newly named A4545 which has been created as part of a £282million upgrade of the M42 junction 6.

The new 2.4km dual carriageway link road – aligned to the west of Bickenhill – will connect motorists with the A45 Clock Interchange as well as Birmingham Airport, Resorts World and the National Exhibition Centre.

National Highways programme leader, Anita Prashar said: “We’d like to thank everyone who came along to meet with us and it was lovely to see people in person to discuss our progress on the scheme.

“We fielded a wide range of questions over the course of the events including activity taking place now and key dates for the remainder of the scheme.

“This is a really important upgrade to a notorious bottleneck on the M42 and we’ll make sure we continue to speak to residents and businesses about the scheme in the coming weeks and months so that we can keep any disruption to a minimum.”
