MUSIC MATTERS- Another great song from Guy Surtees

Guy Surtees – ‘You Were The One’

A few weeks ago, I mentioned Guy and his superb voice, and how he is keeping his Country style sound very British – there is no fake Americanism here.

I love his stuff and guess what, so do many others. So single number three is being released just in time to become this summer’s country love song!

Following the success of Guy’s iTunes Country chart number one ‘English Country Boy’ and number three follow-up ‘Thanking God I’m Alive’, comes the beautiful and equally catchy ‘You Were The One’, still with that signature sound and personal story – this country love song has to be on every newly-wed couple’s first wedding dance list.

With two hit singles under his belt, 1,500 Spotify streams, 1,200 YouTube views and 500 Facebook followers, in just 10 weeks, as well as confirmed festival dates and opening slots, Guy’s year is off to a great start and we’re not even halfway through.

So, what’s the song about?

Guy said: “Basically, I saw a woman in the park, and the rest, as they say, is history.

“But seriously, this is a beautiful love story that started in a park, moved on to a bar, and ended with a kiss.”

‘You Were The One’ is available on all streaming platforms. Guy is currently promoting the single and CD EP in record stores, open mic nights and social media, and he is available for interviews, live sessions and features.

Stay tuned for an exciting future link-up with Guy and the Coventry Music Museum coming soon.

ATTRITION – Live in the Cage 07.02.2023

ATTRITION has been creating dark industrial music since their formation at the end of 1980.

One of Coventry’s finest bands – they have constantly been releasing albums, film scores and performing all over the world.

The original 80s line-up reformed in 2022, performing at festivals and shows in the UK.

They are now preparing for shows in Europe and the USA in support of the new ATTRITION album, The Black Maria.

The rehearsals in February 2023 were recorded to multitrack and mixed by Martin Bowes in the Cage Studios for this limited-edition release. They include interpretations of songs from the band’s last 30 years.

The track list is as follows: The Voice of Truth, One Horse Rider, Dreamcatcher, Snakepit, The Mercy Machine, Invocation, Two Gods, Narcissist, The Great Derailer, Dante’s Kitchen, The Long Hall.

The line-up includes Martin Bowes (vocals and electronics), Ashley Niblock (keyboards), Simon Stansfield (synthesisers) and Julia Waller (vocals).

The release is available through the ATTRITION bandcamp site: attritionuk.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-the-cage-07022023

Attrition has a number of future dates coming up – The Railway Inn, Winchester, on June 24, The Tin in Coventry, July 1, Gullivers in Manchester, July 12 and Zed Alley in Bristol on September 15 (there are a couple of European dates too in Belgium, Germany and Italy).
