MUSIC MATTERS: Coventry stabbing victim first on 'Message to you' tributes plaque at museum

Coventry Editorial 20th Apr, 2019   0

‘A Message to You’ Wall.

Now you can honour a loved one, your favourite band or even yourself and help raise funds for the Coventry Music Museum too.

There will be a chance to buy one of only 200 plaques on ‘The Message to You Wall’ in the Music Museum with these special plaques (located outside of our Rude Boys Bedroom), staying there as long as our museum does.

They can be for a loved one, or maybe someone departed or even for yourself or a club, it’s up to you (no advertising please). It’s a lovely way to remember someone and help the museum as well. They are £30 each. Plaque #1 is dedicated to Fidel Glasgow Neville Staple’s grandson who died tragically after being stabbed in Coventry. The wall was opened by Fidel’s family.

If you would like to order your own custom plaque, they can be ordered by emailing [email protected].

R.E.S.P.E.C.T to Aretha

Coventry’s own Letitia George will be lighting up the Belgrade stage for one night only on May 4.

The show is her personal tribute to the great Aretha Franklin. Now anyone who has ever heard Leticia sing will know what a night of incredible music it will be. Letitia rose to the starlight when she took a chance and appeared on series 4 of The Voice UK in 2015, singing her way through to the knockout rounds where she sadly left the show.

Letitia embarked on a music career with her live band and is now performing up and down the country, and around Europe expanding her experience.

The first time I saw her sing, I have to say, I’m no fan of the TV talent show, and was really not expecting much. That was until she opened her mouth and lit up the room with her amazing voice, and turned out to be a lovely person too.

She said her favourite AF song to sing is “Natural Woman” as it just touches her soul. There’s a fair chance it will have that affect on a lot of other people too, make sure you are one of them.

Blvff

New Cov powerhouse band Blvff (Bluff), have a new single out and it’s something worth investigating, that’s if you like relentless rhythms, killer chorus and impressive vocal dexterity.

The song ‘Shame’ never lets up and it’s a clever piece of indie rock, nice video too, using a mock-up newspaper that’s just crying out to be on display in a music museum.

The boys are also in the final shortlist of 20 bands, in the Marshall Amplification Discovery competition, in association with Rock Sound. This next round of voting will be revealed very soon, good luck guys.
