More Alternative Ska

LAST year, many were knocked out by the abundance of Ska related talent that was presented on the CD ‘Alternative Ska’.

Well, brace yourself because there is a second offering of new acts on a brand new CD entitled, ‘More Alternative Ska”.

Like its predecessor, it’s full to the brim of high-quality Ska and reggae acts, all presented in a superb package which includes a fanzine, badge and sticker.

It’s available from this album which is in support of The 2-Tone Village and is available to buy there as well as at ‘Just Dropped In’ at Fargo for just £10 – a real bargain.

The 23 tracks are:

1. Yellow Cap – Shut Up, 2. Orange Street – One Way Out, 3. The Lloyd McGrath Collective – Take You Out Tonight, 4. Skaledonia- Keep On Skanking, 5. Rude Six – La La La, 6. ‘It’s Not Your Movie’ – Abz Winter

The very impressive Abz Winter is back with a new single entitled ‘It’s Not Your Movie’ – she has already made a name for herself locally and beyond, and this new powerful offering is bound to make her new fans.

Her latest listening habits inspire the music she is now making.

Abz said: “This is where I want to take my next era of music, the genre is slightly different in terms of influences and styles feeling more retro than before, the song is still pop, but what is pop music?”

It feels rawer, rock, punk indie inspired maybe?

You decide. ‘It’s Not Your Movie’ will be available on all streaming platforms.

Daylight Robbery

Daylight Robbery returns to the city for this year’s Godiva Festival with an immersive outdoor theatrical experience, featuring a choreographed stage show, a mesmerising laser display and dancers to create an unforgettable evening in celebration of Coventry’s dance musical heritage.

They will be giving away 3,000 free whistles to the Godiva crowd as they bring Coventry together through dance.

After successfully headlining the second Godiva stage in 2021, Gamma Funkula will be back this September with world-renowned Australian DJ ‘Luude’ – the influential ‘Doc Scott’ dubbed ‘King of the Rollers’ by Metalheadz founder ‘Goldie’ – returning to the city where he began his career during the illegal ‘Amnesia House’ raves.

Coventry’s own female DJ phenomenon Georgie Riot and ‘MC Toddler’ with their high-energy beats.

And, last but not least, ‘The Man Parris Experience’ with ‘Noizee B’ and Kayne Lynas, whose set will trace a path through the journey of ‘hardcore’ music, mutating and evolving into ‘jungle’ throughout the early 90s in Coventry at the iconic Eclipse and Edge clubs.

“It’s going to be gamma funkula” said Daylight Robbery PR Manager KD Dowling.
