Lecs Blvck

Anyone who has checked out Coventry artist Lecs Blvck, will know he is definitely onto something.

I hate to pigeonhole artists, but the biggest compliment I can pay is The Weeknd vibe Lecs has to his music.

This is major talent, right here in Coventry, right now. The songs are superb and so professionally produced the whole thing works so well and that voice, well Lecs needs to be checked out.

Indeed his body of work as it stands right now is R&B soul at its very best. I put some questions to Lecs.

Q. How did it start for you?

A. I have been doing music for about 13 to 14 years now. At that time, music was always around me, the moment I heard lil Wayne’s ‘A Milli’ it inspired me so much to write my first ever lyrics.

From there I was writing until about a year later when I first stepped foot in the studio.

When I first started, I was rapping, but as time went by I decided to sing as it was something I always wanted to the moment I started

singing when I realised the potential of my voice and developed it to the point where it is now.

Q, How long have you been making music?

A. I have been releasing music for about 13 years now. My first ever song was a feature in my first music group I was in at that time.

One of the group members wrote the lyrics for me. At that time I did not believe so much in my writing abilities. After that I released my own single writing everything by myself too.

Q. Who writes your material?

A, I write all music, at times I can discuss concepts ideas with my close friends to help spark up some ideas and topics to speak on certain songs.

Q. Where do you see yourself in two years time?

A. In two years, I’d like to be on big stages nationally and internationally. I’d like to be at a position where masses of people have lived through my music and have stories to tell through it. I’d love to have worked with a number of artists from across genres as I believe music has no boundaries – it is just bridging that gap and helping each other understand one another.

Just Dropped in..Just Got Bigger

I’m delighted to say my favourite Cov indie record shop has just got bigger, no longer is it a diminutive 45RPM it’s now a huge 33 and a third RPM at Fargo in Gosford Street.

Of course Just Dropped In record shop. Hasn’t just increased in size, Alun the owner has taken over the larger premises from next door, and it’s a sight to see.

Alun said of the move: “It’s great we can get more tunes in. I want to have a breakout section and maybe do some more 60s style.

“So this has made it easier to do to that and of course more space for more live bands I’m really excited about that.”

Check out all the live acts he has scheduled over the next few months.
