MUSIC MATTERS- Love and Madness aims to help

Love and Madness – Background – Mission Statement

Coventry Music scene is booming.

The Love and Madness project aims to tap into the flourishing bed of talent and nurture emerging artists.

You only had to look at this year’s Godiva for proof of that.

Covid restrictions have reduced income and live performance opportunities for many.

This has also had an ongoing impact on their ability to record new material and gain brand exposure.

This is especially the case for artists in the early stages of their journey.

The Love and Madness project will empower artists from Coventry to promote their work via industry quality recordings and live performance experiences.

The Love and Madness brand hopes to become synonymous with the Coventry Music Scene by raising the profile of emerging talent from our city.

This programme will propel them into the next stage of their career.

Phase 1 – Overview

The initial phase of this project will kickstart a community label and invite four to five artists to contribute to the first EP.

The first EP will be entitled ‘Who’s Blue Episode 1’ – the name denotes the provenance of the artists (Coventry Blue).

The long-term objective will be to produce an album compiled from two or three EPs.

This would be entitled ‘Who’s Blue Volume 1’.

The performance will take place at HMV Empire in Coventry city centre.

Project participants will have an opportunity to collaborate on a community project, performed and recorded in their own city.

We will invite classical musicians and an arranger to take part in the production process, culminating in a live performance.

The project aim is to showcase Coventry’s rich and diverse musical scene.

A panel of experts will select artists who have already demonstrated their talent via live performances across the city and who need to progress to the next level through a promoted, branded professional recording.

This will remove a common barrier for artists at the beginning of their career.

Those selected for the project will represent the diversity of the Coventry music scene.

The project seeks to demonstrate their talent, get them noticed and lead to more live performance and recording opportunities.

Working with Love and Madness will help them build their fan base via consultation with our social media experts.
