Ruth Kelly

Go on Facebook, attend a gig and there is a good chance that one of Coventry’s hardest working performer is there.

That performer is the powerhouse singer songwriter Ruth Kelly.

She was born in the Stoke area of Coventry, in 1988 moved to Scarborough and now moved back the last two years to Coventry to progress further with music after having so much support from BBC CWR.

She began singing at the age of nine in a local choir and holiday parks.

Ruth is now currently performing at venues all across the UK. solo and with piano player Mark Russell.

She has performed for the BBC on the ‘introducing stage’ at ‘The Big Festival’ in addition to CWR’s stage at ‘Godiva festival’.

Recently, she has been picked as a finalist in for a new incredible adventure with ‘Love and Madness’ record label in Coventry and is so excited to be part of the EP.

Ruth has never had support from a label and is excited to see where this takes her now.

She starts recording next week and will be performing at HMV Empire for the first time in December so keep an eye out for tickets .

One of her new songs, ‘Me and You’ which has received a positive response from listeners at live performances is about her soul mate met through online dating and her song writing generally resolves around, personal experience.

She will be releasing this start of new year 2023 along with lots of other new music she has been working hard on with her producer in London.

Ruth shares her story and struggles with listeners to help inspire them that you can fight through for your dream.

Ruth has focused on live shows and recording this year so is super excited for new music to be released – her last release was November 2021.

‘I Don’t Have You ‘ was released in memory of a close friend’s daughter who lost her life to suicide at only 17 ‘Chelsea Blue’.

She said: “I will never have the words to say but this song will always be sung to raise awareness of suicide and I will raise awareness and talk about this subject wherever I can, in hope it could help others.”

Her tone of her music is based on her preference for the music she grew up with – the popular songs of the 90s and the millennium sounds of 00s.

In addition to a wide experience of delivering songs from the last 50 years or so she will be very well placed to deliver hugely enjoyable live performances to a wide ranging audience as her career continues to gather both strength and momentum.

Her style and stage presence is incredible, but when that voice kicks in you know that you are witnessing something special.
