Musicians tune up for people living with dementia

Coventry Editorial 7th Jul, 2020 Updated: 7th Jul, 2020   0

CARING musicians are tuning up to bring a song to people living with dementia.

Stratford-based Orchestra of the Swan (OOTS) will lead interactive online music sessions for people living with dementia, both at home and in residential care.

Building on OOTS successful Music Cares programmes for people living with dementia in care homes and the community, the orchestra is now offering a series of collaborative, interactive and live Zoom based sessions for the home.

Individual players or duos will perform well known pieces from the classics, folk songs and popular pieces encouraging all to sing along and join in, accessing the session via their own personal computers, laptops, tablets or phones.

There is a series of six sessions on offer, with the first on Wednesday July 8 and the following five Wednesdays. Sessions are offered at 11am and 2.30pm allowing participants to join in the morning, afternoon or both.

To find out more about the sessions and to receive a personal invitation, email Sue Pope at [email protected]

Recordings can also be enjoyed at any time by viewing the content on the community page of OOTS – www.orchestraoftheswan.org/music-cares-online
