INVESTIGATING detectives have named the motorcyclist that died following a collision on Longford Road on Wednesday, August 17.

Luke Cleary, 19, died at the scene after suffering serious injuries.

The driver of the Ford Kuga that collided with Luke’s motorbike continues to help Police with their enquiries.

Police have received lots of information and video from witnesses and as a result, now know that two motorbikes were present, and the other left the scene.

They also confirmed the motorbikes had been riding around the area for some time before the crash which happened at around 11.30pm.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “My thanks to the local community who have given us lots of information regarding events leading up to the collision. Many witnesses have also come forward and provided us with accounts and CCTV which is helping us get a clearer understanding of what happened.

“I’d ask the motorcyclist who left the scene to get in touch with us.

“You left as your friend was dying at the roadside, and you will have information which is crucial to our investigation and will help Luke’s family better understand the tragic circumstances of Wednesday evening.

“We also know the strength of community feeling about what happened and we’ve increased patrols in the area to offer reassurance. Please speak to us if you have concerns.

“My thoughts remain with Luke’s loved ones at this very distressing time.”

Information can be given by contacting collision investigators on [email protected] or via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight. Quote log number 4285 of 17 August.
