New defibrillator has been installed in Coventry

A NEW Community Defibrillator has been installed on the Binley Road next to the cash machines of Coventry Building Society.

It has been installed with the support of Coventry Building Society, Loveitts Land Agents, and the Department of Health and Social Care.

Professor Simon Brake, a local resident who worked with everyone to lead and coordinate the scheme said: “As we know, defibrillators can help give live saving treatment and interventions to people whose hearts have stopped, are having a heart attack or some other sort of cardiac problem.

“Our defibrillator is part of a national network and registered with the West Midlands Ambulance Service who have the code for the lock box and can give it out 24 hours a day, seven days a week to anyone needing it, one of the first like this in Coventry on our main trunk roads in and out of our city.”

Lynne Crosbie from Coventry Building Society said: “When we were approached with this proposal, we worked really hard to make it happen – Coventry Building Society is based in the heart of our community, so it’s so good that we can help our community’s hearts be cared for like this”

Kevin Malcolm from Stoke Park Residents’ Group said: “Once again we have a great piece of community activism led by the SPRG and its Residents, generously covered by sponsors.

“This will provide care, and support, and save lives, not just for those of us living locally, but for the wider community of people who live, work, travel and visit this area of Coventry.”
