ETCH and Pin author Aaron Ashmore has released a new illustrated book celebrating Coventry’s finest sporting achievements.
‘Coventry’s Sporting Moments’, which was illustrated by Jez Hill, is 28 pages long and looks at 12 memorable events from the city’s history across a range of different sports.
The book features iconic medal wins for athletes including David Moorcroft, Marlon Devonish, Kare Adenegan and Chelsie Giles as well as trophy-winning teams including Coventry Bears Rugby, Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey and Coventry City Football Club.
Other remarkable sporting tales include world record-breaking cyclist Eileen Sheridan and Thrust SSC, whose team recently celebrated 25 years of breaking the world land speed record.
And as with all Etch and Pin books, 1,000 free copies of the new book will be heading to Coventry schools.
Aarons previous books include ‘Lady Godiva’s Birthday Suit’, ‘Coventry: The Phoenix City’ and ‘The Time Travelling Coventry Taxi’.
Aaron said: “Taking a closer look at the 12 Coventry sporting moments has been a pleasure and has brought back memories of the many times I have been proud of the city.
“I hope it helps to inspire the next generation of Coventry athletes and sports stars.”
