A NEW year of opportunities is on the bill at the Heart of England Music Hub in Coventry.
Coventry City Council has unveiled the first major initiatives being delivered through the hub for the 2025-26 academic year, following the announcement of a £1.7million Arts Council England grant last month.
Highlights include the inaugural Heart of England Music Hub Conference, entitled Breaking Barriers: Empowering Music Curriculum Access, Diversity and Quality for All.
Led by the hub’s lead schools and leadership team, the conference will bring together music educators, school leaders, cultural organisations, and industry professionals for workshops, performances and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Coventry families will also benefit from expanded access to free and discounted music lessons and group activities through the city’s Go CV scheme.
The scheme offers free access to Coventry Music-run groups for all members, and a 25 per cent discount on direct-billed lessons for Go CV+ members.
Another major focus this year is the return of the Digital Music Festival in March 2026, building on the success of the 2025 event.
The festival will showcase the creativity and talent of young musicians from across the region through online performances.
Coun Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Coventry City Council, said: “With this funding, we’re able to deliver a year full of creativity, collaboration, and opportunity.
“From our conference to the Digital Music Festival, we’re making sure that music education is inspiring, inclusive, and accessible to every child.”
