A NEW ITV Drama is coming to your screens this year which was filmed in Coventry’s City Centre Cultural Gateway.

‘Three Little Birds’ has been written and executive produced by Sir Lenny Henry and stars Rochelle Neil and Yazmin Belo as well as Saffron Coomber from Tracey Beaker Returns.

Production company Tiger Aspect has been based at Sky Blue Studios in the building, which was formally an IKEA, since May, and filming was wrapped up at the end of last month.

Three Little Birds is a six-part series celebrating immigration, community and the strength of black womanhood, and is inspired by the stories of Sir Lenny Henry’s mother as well as others who travelled to make Britain their home.

Coventry City Council, who own the building, struck a deal with Tiger Aspect to have filming take place there.

This follows filming for the new BBC children’s drama, Phoenix Rise, which is taking place at the former Woodlands School site.

Coun David Welsh, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities at Coventry City Council, said: “It’s a very exciting time – alongside other TV projects that are taking place, it shows that Coventry is committed to bringing TV and film production into the city.

“With that comes more jobs, opportunities, and investment which our residents can only benefit from.

“This is all part of our lasting legacy following our year as UK City of Culture, and fully utilises the building whilst the main project is relocating Arts Council and British Council’s Collections to the city.”
