New learning hub 'Heralds' success for students

Coventry Editorial 3rd Oct, 2022   0

A CENTRAL HUB has been refurbished to provide Coventry’s Key Stage Four students with an alternative learning service in the area.

The Herald learning centre helps 14 to 16-year-olds experiencing behavioural difficulties in mainstream schools, with the aim of providing them with alternative education which helps the students with their results and improves their chances of a good future.

It offers a personalised curriculum made up of core subjects and programmes to create a supportive environment.

Students are taught in classes of no more than 10 people.

The centre includes a fully-fitted gym, state-of-the-art science labs, a kitchen for catering lessons and a recording studio.

The Herald was officially opened earlier this month by Lord Mayor Coun Kevin Maton who was given a tour around the school to illustrate how the lessons would be delivered.

The council’s cabinet member for education and skills, Coun Dr Kindy Sandhu said: “I am delighted to see the hard work that has gone into making this project very successful and I am sure both staff and students at The Herald are very excited to enjoy the new facilities on offer.

“This new central hub will no doubt create a much-improved environment to learn in and help pupils to develop.

“I want to thank all of those involved who have worked so well together to fulfill this important new development in creating a wonderful new facility for the Key Stage 4 students to benefit.”
