SIDNEY Stringer Academy has given all year 7 students joining them a welcome present by gifting them a Chromebook laptop each.
This follows a survey which showed just 39 per cent of students had access to a device of their own to use at home.
The Academy aims to give all students the tools needed to excel in the digital age.
The Chromebook will be each student’s property to keep and maintain throughout their time at the academy.
The IT team has also made sure youngsters can stay safe and secure on their new Chromebook laptops.
Andrew Walls, Assistant Principal for MAT IT, said: “The integration of the Chromebooks has transformed learning at Sidney Stringer Academy.
“All our lesson resources are stored on Google Classroom so students can always go back to look at the slides and resources of any lesson which greatly benefits their revision.”
