A NEW community support service has been launched to provide better help to Coventrians with autism.
Those who self-identify as autistic or those awaiting an autism assessment or diagnosis will have more choices in the emotional and practical support they can access through the new service.
The improvements will build on the existing community autism support service by introducing new elements based on feedback from autistic people and their families.
People will be able to access the service through a single phone number and a dedicated website, which is available now.
A dedicated team will provide emotional support and if needed identify other beneficial services.
These include community outreach and peer mentoring services as well as training and education.
Other aims of the service include improving people’s understanding of autism as well as helping people to help improve their self-esteem, confidence and mental health.
Dr Angela Brady, Chief Medical Officer, NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board, said: “We are excited about the launch of this new service.
“We hope it will prove to be a valuable resource for autistic people across Coventry and Warwickshire and improve the quality of support they receive.”
You can contact the community autism support service by calling 02476 012333 between 8am and 8pm between Monday and Friday.
People can also visit www.casspartnership.org.uk or email [email protected] to access the service.
