Nominate Coventry heroes for carer award

Coventry Editorial 20th May, 2023   0

THE CARERS Trust Heart of England is on the lookout for local heroes from Coventry and Warwickshire ahead of its annual Carer Awards event.

The community will come together at St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry on June 8 to celebrate the selfless work of those who have gone above and beyond to help both carers and those they care for.

The charity supports carers and their families by providing tailored care support services and now wants the public to have their say.

People have until Monday, may 22, to submit their nominations for six prestigious awards.

Categories include local businesses, GPs, schools and carers of all ages.

The awards evening takes place during Carers’ Week which runs from June 5 to 11, an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, to highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and to recognise the contribution they make to families and communities.

Carers Trust Heart of England is also hosting a variety of exciting events across Coventry and Warwickshire to celebrate Carers Week, including laughter therapy, golf and flower arranging sessions.

Sarah Wakeman, the charity’s fund-raising and business development manager, said: “There are over 16,000 unpaid carers known to us in Coventry and Warwickshire, with each and every one working tirelessly to support someone they care for.

“Carers Week is a national initiative which aims to highlight the many challenges these incredible people face on a daily basis.”

Businesses can also get involved by sponsoring prizes.

Sarah added: “We’re determined to make this year’s Carers Week the best yet and any support would be much appreciated.”
