A FILM following a group of veterans from Coventry as they visit the beaches, cemeteries and museums of Normandy to remember their fallen colleagues is to get its premiere at the city’s cathedral.

The Ingredients of Peace will be screened at 1pm on Friday, June 6 – the 70th anniversary of D-Day which was the beginning of the end of the second World War.

It is targeted at secondary school pupils and will be available to download free from the charity Normandy Day UK website, peace-unity.co.uk.

The screening will be followed by a public peace picnic at 2.30pm that will feature speeches by the founder of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament Bruce Kent, Rwandan genocide survivor Alex Ntung and the first performance by Sandra Godley of a song written for the film by veteran Gordon Quinney and composer Andrew Kristy.

Tickets are free from Andy Duncan at ajd100@virginmedia.com or on 07939 105706.
