A NUNEATON man has been charged with arson and bulgarly following an incident on Saturday (May 18).

Jonah Smith, 27, of Shakespeare Drive has been charged with arson, burglary, and criminal damage under £5,000.

The charges follow events on Saturday, May 18 during which officers responded to concerns of a man having access to dangerous chemicals.

Traces of chemicals were allegedly found inside a car belonging to Smith.

The investigation was launched following reports of someone combining chemicals on the tarmac at an industrial unit in Attleborough Fields, Nuneaton.

The chemicals used have been traced back to an alleged burglary in Worcestershire which took place on May, 16.

Smith is due to appear in Coventry Magistrates Court today (Monday, May 20).

A 28-year-old man from Nuneaton was also arrested in connection with the incident yesterday afternoon and he has been bailed until August while enquiries continue.
