TWO MEN from Nuneaton have been arrested on suspicion of multiple driving, drugs, and weapon offences after a car was stopped and searched in Bedworth.

Officers witnessed the driver and passenger of a red Ford Fiesta acting suspiciously and carrying out what they believed to be a drugs deal on August 21.

When they attempted to pull the vehicle over on Astley Lane, it failed to stop and a short pursuit followed.

The driver went through a red light and travelled on the wrong side of the road in a bid to avoid police.

After a few minutes, the vehicle stopped on Park Lane in Nuneaton and officers carried out a search – seizing various weapons, a number of imitation firearms, a quantity of what was thought to be cannabis, and a quantity of cash.

A 29-year-old man from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, other than class A, possession of offensive weapon, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, possession of firearms and money laundering.

A 26-year-old man from Nuneaton was held on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, other than class A, possession of offensive weapon and money laundering.

Both men have been bailed until mid-November while enquiries continue.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Warwickshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
