THE SUPPORT of the Nuneaton community has allowed a town squash and fitness club to start the road to recovery after it was hit by a devastating flood.
Cleaver Squash and Fitness had a horrific start to 2024 when it was hit with flooding after the River Anker burst its banks.
The flood caused catastrophic damage to the centre’s four squash courts along with the changing rooms and viewing areas.
A GoFundMe was set up to help get the business back on its feet, and so far over £15,000 has been raised.
The club is family-owned and has eight teams competing in both the Warwickshire and Leicestershire Squash and Racketball leagues.
This week, the club’s gym and bar were able to reopen.
Attention has now turned to installing new squash courts, with the current ones still drying out.
A charity squash and racketball event will take place at 6.30pm on Friday (January 19) at Kenilworth Squash Club with all cash going to the Cleaver flood damage fund.
