A NUNEATON man has been hit with a 12 month driving ban for being found drunk and asleep behind the wheel of a parked car.

A recent sentencing at Leamington Magistrates Court on Friday, March 15, saw several drivers face charges for drink driving offenses in Warwickshire.

Among them was 26-year-old Jack Wain of Duke Street, Nuneaton.

Wain was arrested at 9.11am on January 26 on Pallet Drive, Nuneaton, after being found asleep behind the wheel of a parked car with the keys in the ignition and the engine running.

Upon inspection, alcohol was discovered in the seat next to him.

Warwickshire Police officers attending the scene conducted a roadside breath test, which Wain failed, leading to his arrest.

He was later charged with drink driving.

Wain pleaded guilty to the offense and was given a 12-month driving ban, a fine of £120, and additional costs amounting to £135, along with a victim surcharge of £48.

Sgt Simon Dalby said: “Every week we are seeing drink drivers lose their licences after appearing in court.

“If you are one of the few that would drink and drive, please think of the consequences of losing your licence for you, your family and your job and

choose a taxi instead.

“This is the least sentence you can expect and you will also have a criminal record.”
