A NUNEATON teenager has been charged with public order offences and obstructing an officer.

Bailey Johnson of Impala Way in Nuneaton, was charged with obstructing a police officer and violating section 5 of the Public Order Act.

The 19-year-old was charged following an incident during which a man was reportedly asked to dismount from an e-scooter in Nuneaton marketplace by the Town Centre Officer.

The man allegedly swore at the officer and refused to dismount, and when the officer was trying to get details from him, they allegedly continued to be loudly abusive in front of numerous members of the public before being arrested.

Johnson will appear in Warwickshire Magistrates Court on February 16.
