OBSERVER pair Steve Carpenter and Wayne Lovelock are preparing for their latest challenge as they continue to raise valuable funds for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Ash Green.
Sports editor Steve and sales executive Wayne took part in the Coventry Half Marathon last month.
But now the duo have decided to go one better and are competing in the Coventry Speed Triathlon on May 25.
The event will comprise of a 400-metre swim in the Xcel Centre pool, followed by a 20km cycle ride on surrounding roads before finishing with a 5km run on local footpaths.
And to help them on their way Halfords in Foleshill Road have kindly donated two bikes for the pair to use for training and during the event.
“We are really thankful for the support of Halfords because without them we would be unable to take part.” said Wayne.
“I got in touch with them and I was really pleased to here how the store manager there is aiming to reach out more and become heavily involved with the community.”
All money raised will go to Zoe’s Place who offer care for young children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
The hospice needs just over £21,000 to stay open for seven days and at the moment it is only able to fully function three days a week due to lack of funds.
Steve added: “We are really pleased to be helping support Zoe’s Place once again.
“They rely heavily on charitable donations so hopefully we can raise as much money as possible and support the fantastic work they do.”
