AN OFF-road motorbike has been seized by police in Coventry as part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal riding in the city.

Coventry Police’s North East neighbourhood teams took to the streets of Wood End, Longford, Stoke and Wyken in search of illegal off-road bikes.

In the first 15 minutes, they spotted two people driving an off-road bike dangerously down Deedmore Road towards Moat House Park.

Officers from the off-road bike team stopped the bike at the park entrance and the two youngsters were detained. The bike was also seized.

Police recovered some cannabis and the rider was referred to drug rehabilitation services. He was also reported for having no licence or insurance.

It was part of Operation Prosperity, an initiative aiming to disrupt anti-social behaviour and illegal use of off-road bikes in Coventry.

During the operation, three vehicles were seized and recovered on Roseberry Avenue, Ansty Road and Second Avenue for no insurance.

Officers also spotted a vehicle on Almond Tree Avenue which had been reported stolen. It was recovered for further investigation.
