A ‘ONE-PUNCH’ attacker who left a man with serious head injuries in Coventry city centre has been jailed.

Liam Tubman knocked the man to the floor with a single blow in Gosford Street around 11pm on May 5.

The victim was left temporarily unconscious before being put into an induced coma. The punch is believed to have followed a disagreement at a nearby pub.

The man, in his 20s, spent a number of weeks in hospital.

Tubman initially fled the scene but handed himself into police a short while later.

The 22-year-old from Coventry pleaded guilty to wounding. He was jailed for two years and three months at Coventry Crown Court.

West Midland Police is part of a new national campaign to reduce violence when people are out in bars and clubs at night.
