PHARMACISTS and GPs are urging people across Coventry to order repeat prescriptions in plenty of time ahead of this weekend’s bank holiday.
Medical practices will be getting busier in the lead-up to the bank holiday, with several pharmacies and all suppliers closed over the weekend.
Pharmaceutical Committee Coventry and Warwickshire’s chief operating officer, Fiona Lowe said: “Some medication can cause unpleasant side effects or even make people seriously unwell if doses are missed, especially those used to manage long-term conditions such as heart problems.”
“This can be easily avoided by making sure you have enough medication to see you through the Bank Holiday and remembering to order repeat prescriptions when the time comes.”
She added that if routine medication is due to run out before Tuesday, August 30 to place your prescription request as early as you can and ideally by tomorrow which should ensure you get your prescription by Friday.
The Prescription Ordering Direct Service (POD) enables people to easily order repeat prescriptions when they have seven days or less medication left, but this service is closed on weekends and bank holidays.
To order subscriptions through the POD call 024 7624 6072 for Coventry & Rugby, or visit https://coventrywarwickshireccg.nhs.uk/health-services/your-local-services/prescription-ordering-direct/ to submit a request online.
