OUTCast Theatre joins Zoe's Place Baby Hospice for Summer Fayre

ZOE’S Place Baby Hospice’s Summer Fayre was the stuff of fairytales following a performance by a new Coventry theatre group.

OUTCast Theatre (Our Unique Theatre) took to the stage at the charity’s fayre in Easter Way to encourage children to take part in an interactive drama activity.

In true street theatre style, OUTCast invited the audience to step into the spotlight and take on the role of the characters, while helping them to re-enact the story of George and the Dragon and a Fairytale Pantomime.

Heather Evans founder and director of OUTCast said: “Zoë’s Place is such an amazing charity.

“We jumped at the chance to be able to bring street theatre to their event. It’s something different that everyone can participate in and enjoy.”

The group were also challenged to a dance off with staff from Coventry Building Society, who sponsored and helped organise the event.

Dave Checkley was at the event and said: “It’s great to see local volunteer groups support local charities and encourage children to get out in the sun and have some fun.”

OUTCast also showcases traditional plays and variety shows and will be performing at the end of the month for residents of Earlsdon Park Retirement Village in Albany Road.

Meanwhile, in a bid to encourage more people to get involved in theatre, the group in Stoney Road is looking for volunteers to join its team in roles both on and off the stage.
