Over 700 cannabis plants among drugs seized in Coventry County Lines crackdown

A DEDICATED week of action against county lines networks in Coventry saw police seize heroin, cocaine and more than 700 cannabis plants.

Officers were involved in County Lines Intensification Week as part of a national drive to combat criminal groups.

There were cross-border police operations against suspected drug supply chains, during which police also recovered weapons including a machete, hammer and Rambo knife.

Officers also made 10 arrests for offences including possession of Class A and B drugs and wounding.

Drug runners using the rail system or bus networks were identified through work with the British Transport Police and Safer Travel.

And the dangers of county lines networks looking to exploit children to carry drugs were highlighted in schools.

Sgt Kelly Mills, from Coventry Police, said: “This local action was part of the dedicated County Lines Intensification Week but our work to bring down such drug network is ongoing daily.”

“We work alongside our partners in local authorities, health and charities, to help divert our young people who are vulnerable to County Lines exploitation away from criminal gangs and on to brighter futures.”
