PARENTS have taken to social media to say they haven’t received their child benefit this morning (June 3).
Families across the UK have hit out at HMRC claiming the funds haven’t appeared in their accounts as expected.
Some parents say they have been without since Friday (May 31) and others say it was missing when they checked their accounts on Monday morning.
Parents or guardians receive the payments if they are responsible for a child under 16 or under 20 if they’re in approved education or training.
Families typically receive about £80 every four weeks for their eldest child and around £60 for any additional children.
One parent posted on X: “Woke up this morning to find my Tesco order cancelled due to lack of funds… yet ordered specifically to be delivered before school run, with children’s lunch box bits but due to no child benefit payment, there wasn’t enough funds in my account.”
Another said: “Child Benefit hasn’t gone in. Seeing some kids unable to get to school because of no bus fare and others with no money for food.”
An HMRC spokesperson said: “We’re sorry that some customers’ Child Benefit payments have not arrived as scheduled and we are working urgently to resolve the issue.”
On X HMRC Customer Support said: “We’re sorry that some customers’ Child Benefit payments have not arrived as scheduled and we are working urgently to resolve the issue.
“There’s no need for customers to call us and we will provide updates here as soon as they are available.”
