Phoney council workers prey on OAP stealing cash from Coventry home

MEN pretending to be council workers distracted a vulnerable man in his 80s and stole a large quantity of cash from his home.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating a distraction burglary at a house in Brixham Drive, Coventry between 8 and 8.30pm on Sunday (April 14).

“Two men approached the property pretending to be from the council, one of the men distracted the homeowner, a man in his 80s, whilst the other gained entry to the house and stole a large quantity of cash.
