Pilot pub ordered to close for three months

Coventry Editorial 27th Jan, 2023   0

THE PILOT pub and Maharaja restaurant have been ordered to close after a serious attack which left a man with potentially life-changing injuries.

The order was granted at Coventry Magistrates Court on January 25 making it an offence for anyone other than the owner to enter a specific part of the building until April 24.

The order was brought forward after a serious disorder on November 29 which saw a man attacked by a group at the Catesby Road pub.

The venue’s alcohol and entertainment licence was then revoked on December 8.

Residents had also submitted repeated noise complaints regarding the pub.

Insp Sherrie Kimberley, from Coventry Police, said: “This was a shocking attack which caused significant concerns in the wider community.

“We worked with several partners to secure this closure order, which will help ensure there is no repeat of this kind of disorder.”

Police are still investigating the disorder at the Pilot Pub.

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident number 20/993921/22 or call Crimestoppers anonymously through 0800 555 111.
