A WOMAN was sexually assaulted in the early hours of this morning in Nuneaton.

It happened just before 4.30am as the woman was walking on the path between Pingles Leisure Centre and Donnithorne Avenue.

Warwickshire Police received reports which suggested a witness disturbed the suspect who then fled the scene.

He was white and was wearing dark jeans and a dark top.

Det Insp Owen Fell from Nuneaton CID said officers wanted to speak to anyone who was in the area between 3am and 4.30am, including drivers of any vehicles on Church Street, Attleborough Road, Avenue Road and/or Donnithorne Avenue during this time who may have dashcam footage.

“A number of enquiries of currently ongoing, including a CCTV trawl.

“As part of the investigation, we would like to speak to the individual who is believed to have disturbed the incident, as they are being treated as a key witness.”

He urged anyone with information to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
